Social Security
Created in 1935, Social Security is an important social insurance program designed to pay retired workers a continuing income for retirement. Without it almost half of today’s seniors would live in poverty. And one in every three seniors depends on Social Security for 90% of their income. This is why Republicans are committed to ensuring seniors receive every penny in Social Security benefits they have earned over a lifetime of hard work.

National Defense and Homeland Security
Overnight, the September 11 terrorist attacks put the issue of national security among the most pressing topics facing Congress. National defense and homeland security — issues that had been relegated to the backburner throughout the 1990s — received new focus. As a result, the President asked and Congress created the Department of Homeland Security, whose single overriding responsibility is to make America more secure.

Economy
Republican tax cuts are creating jobs and continuing to strengthen the economy, yet there is still more to do so that every American who wants a job can find one. Congressional Republicans understand that many Americans are working hard to make ends meet. That is why the GOP continues to push for pro-growth policies that create jobs and oppose tax increases that would add a burden to working families and set back our economy.

Taxes
Republicans firmly believe working Americans should be able to keep more of the money they earn. It’s one of our fundamental differences with Democrats. Maybe that’s why the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts were enacted with wide Republican majorities in the House and Senate. As a result of that historic tax relief, a record number of taxpayers received generous tax refunds on their 2003 tax returns, the average of which was almost $2,100.

Energy
During 2005, the House passed H.R. 6, the Energy Policy Act of 2005. The bill aims to decrease our dependence on foreign oil, bring down gas prices and conserve energy. The House also passed the Gasoline for America’s Security (GAS) Act of 2005. The bill encourages new refineries in order to increase gasoline supplies and address soaring prices.

Veterans
Republicans in Congress are committed to honoring our men and women in uniform—past and present. And Republican reforms have bettered the situation of our nation’s veterans, dramatically increased funding for veterans’ programs, and ensured our veterans receive the benefits they are owed. Continue against the government” or “conduct which tends to treason but which falls short of it for want of an overt act.”  Barbara Lee has embraced sedition from the first week of this war.  She has led many of her colleagues in that direction, but others fear her extremism and what it could do to the party and their positions of power.  It is long past time for traditional Democrats and Independents to reject the Left by voting against politicians like Barbara Lee.  A vote for John den Dulk will do this.
